Dutch Naval Boarding Cutlass and leather Scabbard.
Single fullered blued blade with hatchet point, measuring 23.3/4″. Overall the cutlass measures 30.1/2″ The grips appear to be of a bakelite type material, secured by brass rivets. Simple pressed steel guard – painted gloss black. The blade is nicely blued and approximately 1.1/8″ across and a good .1/8″ thick. The brown leather scabbard is fully intact as is the broad stitching. It has a brass chape and reinforcement around the throat. Condition is good generally with minor pitting at the hatchet end of the blade. Everything seems intact and nothing is loose – the blade had to have the edge removed before sale! Externally the scabbard is marked “C.W. N. /11 – 11 / Z”
