Overall length 16.1/2″.  Bright steel blade 11.1/4″ exposed marked on one side;-  “U.S.M.C. / BRIDDELL”  Round nosed profile to blade. The blade in apparently unused condition with Verdigris from the scabbard on the surface which easily comes off.  The weight of the blade give a strong hint to its original purpose as it 1/4″ in thickness.  These knives were designed not as a weapon, but more as a tool used for cutting splints and tent pegs etc.
