BSA .310 Cadet. — SOLD

A nice example of a 310 Cadet made for the Australian market by BSA.
Of standard specification, 25″ round blued barrel with fixed fore sight and superb adjustable rear sights in excellent working order. (see picture below) Walnut stock with some handling scuffs and dents. Forend held in place with a single barrel band with sling swivel.
The barrel exhibits a good even patina of grey brown. The bore is excellent, clear sharp and bright. Just in front of the rear sights the barrel is marked “MADE BY THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS Co LTD” along with prrof marks and calibre designations near the breech. It also has the number “46209” stamped on the barrel and the action. On the top of the breech the “Kangeroo” stamp for Australian is clearly visable.
The left side of the action is clearly marked”MADE BY THE BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO” then below, “TRADE MARKS” with the well known BSA Stacked rifle trade mark. On the right hand side of the Action is is marked “COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA/ vic/20120” This number also appears around the pivoting pin of he falling block. The action also clearly shows several clear Birmingham proofmarks. The buttplate is of steel with incorrrect screws. The Action is extremely crisp and works well.
There is evidence of a break in the toe of the stock which looks like it may have been repaired a longtime ago and is hardly noticable.
This rifle makes up the “Baby” of any collection. It certainly is a nice example of fine riflemaking and excellent British workmanship from days gone by.
