Created on August 11th 2026
Full length M95 Steyr Infantry Rifle
The principle weapon of Austro-Hungaria during World War One. Produced in massive quantities by Steyr and Bucharest. It includes a sophisticated yet simple turn-bolt system activated in the “straight-pull” type fashion. This example of the full length Infantry derrivative is 50″ in overall length. It has a round 29.1/4″ long barrel. The trigger Pull length is 13.1/4″ to center. It has a single piece walnut semi-pistol grip stock with finger grooves in the fore-end. An almost full length hand-guard covers the barrel back to the rear sights. The exposed knox form displays the single “S” letter meaning the rifle had been up dated to the later 8 x 56mm round.
The straight-pull mechanisium is fed by magazine clips inserted from the open top of the action. When the last round has been used the clip will drop through the base of the action. The opening below looks like a box-type magazine and is shaped into a trigger guard. Mid-point sling swivel mounted on front of mag housing. The ladder type rear sights are graduated from 600 to 2600 meters. The front band has the forward sling swivel attached. The nose-band incorporates a piling or stacking hook.
The straight bolt is finished in the white and has a simple safety catch to the rear LHS, which is pushed in to make the rifle Safe. Straight bolt arm with round bolt knob. A rotating bolt head locks at the front and is considered extremely strong; as front locking. All parts finished inBlacl, the bolt contrasting nicely against the action. The LHS of the action andside of the knox are both marked with a matching serial number “8460O” The crest of the circular receiver is simply marked “STEYR / M.95” The same number “8460” is marked in electric pencil on the rear upper of the bolt.
The stock has seen some wear and has been heavily sanded – the definition about the finger grooves is very soft. The bore although strongly rifles is diry and would probably respond to some TLC. Mechanically fine. CIP proofed.
