Superb 1894 Winchester in .32-40
s/n 20653 indicating First Year of Manufacture. Benefiting from being of Obsolete Caliber in .32-40 marked on top of the barrel at breech end. Overall length 44″, Round blued barrel 26″ with full length tubular magazine under. “Marbles” adjustable buckhorne sights on barrel, with Lyman adjustable tang aperture sight on top tang behind hammer. Winchester manufacturers address and patent dates on top of barrel.
Crescent steel butplate on good American black walnut stock. All woodwork in good order, no splits or damage only wear consumate with age, a few surface dents and scratches of some age do not detract from the pleasant overall patina of the whole weapon. Stock displaying a fine polised finish with no oil staining about the wrist.
None of the metal parts display any hint of refinishing ot interferrance. All parts show a good aged patina with a surprisingly high degree of retention of origional blue on the action. The rest turning to a pleasing brown/plum finish with little edge wear on the high points.
The Action and bore are both good. The rifling is strong with no interuption or pitting, but dark. This is a rare opportunity to accuire an excellent example of the 1894 in its origional condition – not to be missed.
