A good Matching K98k by the Primary Factory, Oberndorf
An extrodinarily ordinary K98k in the correct caliber of 7.92 x 57mm with matching numbers. However, these days, “matching numbers” is becoming less and less ordinary, infact it is becoming something of a Golden Fleece! This is how they emerged from the factory, this example has all the correct features and correct serial numbers or parts there-of.
But, and there’s always a but for the pureist this might not quite work, because the barrel has been replaced with a brand new manufactured item by C & G Firearms in 2019. That in its self cost the owner £1200. So, this rifle is perfect for a range shooter as accuracy should not be a problem and ammunition wastage should only turn out to be a bare minimum. Which these days is a factor to take into account in making the past-time affordable.
Serial number: “4315 p” 8mm Mauser with standard Mauser action and flag safety at rear of bolt. Overall length 44″. Round blacked barrel 24″. Trigger Pull 13.1/8″ Correct laminated stock in very good condition with slight delamination crack at toe of butt. Bolt stripping disk in butt. Flat steel butt-plate. Re-blacked action and barrel, unfortunately, the action and some other components have been refinished without removal of pitting. Oxide red colour to bolt extractor and bolt release spring.
Stock is correct for Oberndorf in that period, but devoid of any of the usual markings. (possibly sanded away) The rifle is supplied with a correct vintage brown leather sling. There is a cleaning rod in the usual place. Bore barely run in, action mechanically fine.
Stock Number F 1227 – FAC Required
£ 1650.
