Post WW 1 Telescopic Sight

Of strong and sturdy construction with excellent optics.  Thought to be 6 x magnification.  Standard post & rail reticule with free adjustment from top turret for elevation.  Typically, the story goes, that these scopes were seized during the Second World War or turned in by patriots, to be fitted to military rifles.  Due to the funding structure of the various forces it was not uncommon that these scopes would end up on SS rifles.

It is possible to see previous mounting marks of the half circumference type, on the body of the scope. The tube is a 1″ type with a 36mm object lense and a 34 mm eye-piece.  A knurled ring just in front of the eye-piece can be rotated to adjust focus.

The top surface of the same is marked with the manufacturers name; “K / GERARD”  The turret which sits on the top of the tube has a scope serial number on the RHS; ” 42132″  Elevation can be adjusted and then locked by a slotted grubscrew which faces reaward of the turret.  Patina is of a faded grey all over the tube and the black paint is wearing on the brass components.

Generally very good condition.

£ 600.
