1903-A3 WW2 Rifle……………….SOLD

Created on October 30th 2009

Last of the 03-A3’s produced by Remington for the US Army

Receiver marked “U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL03-A3/ 4076545” Serial number indicates production in October 1943 and matches barrel which is stamped “R A / flaming bomb / 10/43” just behind foresight.

A nice clean example of the weapon by Remington. Standard Walnut stocks – refinished with original proof mark “P” behind trigger guard just visable. Cartouches on left of wrist only shadows in good light as with sud-inspectors marks infrontof magazine base-plate. The stock also showing quite clearly the boxed “O.G” mark on the left center of the butt stock indicating Odgen Arsenal (Utah), possibly where the rifle was refinished, as much of the metal work is parkerised.

Many of the parts show the “R” Remington markers marks. All fittings are of the stamped out variety as is correct with this age weapon and it has the correct chequered Remington steel butt-plate with trap for oiler.

It has a superb two-grove bore which is spotless with deep sharp rifling. A nice clean usable example of Remingtons’ 1903-A3 ready to be used again courtesy of the American Military machine, – thanks Uncle Sam!
