The Bolt action Workhorse Rifle of the U.S. Army in WW2

S/n 3730002, Remington .30-06 Bolt Action Rifle.

This 1903-A3 has a 24″ standard round barrel, the parkerised finish and scant walnut stock. This would be an 1943 production year rifle by Remington as used by various U.S. forces throughout WW2.

The top of the parkerized receiver is marked “US / REMINGTON ARMS / MODEL 03-A3” over the serial number. The barrel has the standard markings “RA / ordenance bomb / 4 -43” denoting month and year of manufacture. The rear sight is the appature battle sight and the front the standard blade sight. All parts have been parkerized in the arsenal overhaul.

The stock is the early two pin type in walnut with the full length handguard on top of the barrel. The left side of the wrist is marked with crossed cannons and “RA” and “FA” inspectors marks. The standard circled “P” is in the grip area.

As the whole weapon has been arsenal refurbished it is in good condition overall with only minor handling marks. The action is excellent and the bore clean and bright with sharp rifling.
