                                                     Superb Transitional Revolver By Parker Field.

A Fine Cased 84 Bore Transitional six-shot Single Action Percussion Revolver of the Gas-Sealed type by Parker, Field & Sons of 233 High Holborn, London, serial number 10,200 for 1855.

Octagonal, blued sighted barrel, signed along the top flat and engraved around the muzzle. Engraved with scrolling foliage each side of the breech-block, with fluted case-hardened cylinder engraved with serial number. The hammer and action are case-hardened with scroll engraved foliage. On the side is the blued safety catch. The rammer is the linked and sprung Blissett patent type. The trigger guard is blued with foliate engraving. The rounded chequred fine walnut butt has a case-hardened trap, the circular hinged cover engraved with a flower head. There is a silver escutcheon engraved with the owners crest. The whole pistol retains nearly all its original finish with fines case-hardened colours showing brightly.

In its original lined oak fitted case with accessories including brass-mounted copper powder flask in excellent condition, serial numbered brass bullet mold (to the revolver) Parker-Field cap tin and pewter oil bottle. Makers trade label on the lid and on the exterior a circular brass escutcheon engraved with the owners name “J.Phillips” The revolver shows clear London proofs and makers proof.

Provenance: The Harold Tangiu Collection. A calling card belonging to Tangiu is in the case with details of the revolver and signed by J.Firth, Feb 1960.
