BSA SMLE III* 1919 Rifle……………………SOLD

Created on June 17th 2009

1919 Dated S.M.L.E. Mk1 NoIII* by BSA & Co.

s/n K 95927. This serial number appears on many parts; Breech, Bolt, Barrel, bayonet lug and woodwork – this is not a rifle made of mixed parts and has stayed together since its build in 1919. It has a generally pleasing overall patina with toned woodwork mixing with a nicely fading plum/blue to grey and black with light rusting on the metalwork. It shows no signs of being refinished or restored on any part of the rifle. Even so the weapon is in fine condition with a good crisp action and excellent bore for shooting.

This piece also benefits from many clear inspectors marks on the action, the bolt the stock the fore end cap, trigger guard, sight guard wrist etc.

Standard lengths and issue apply with a 25.1/2″ barrel and a 13.1/2″ stock length. The rifle has the correct brass butt plate and trap with no heel or toe repairs to the walnut stock. Standard 10 shot magazine. Rounded cocking piece on bolt. Safety catch marked “III”. Stacking swivel AF as with swivel in front of magazine. Stock ID brass plate is missing. Standard sights adjustable up to 2000yds with no windage adjustment. Loading bridge over action, no magazine cut-off on this model.

This is a super example of a No1 MkIII* S.M.L.E. and would make a fine addition to any shooter or collectors selection.
