Japanese Type 38 Service Rifle (f 498)…SOLD

Created on September 21st 2011

A Good Type 38 Japanese Rifle in 6.5mm

Serial number W3751 61 stamped into LHS of Action Body with Arsenal mark after denoting Mukden Arsenal Manchuria produced between 1931 & 1945.

The breech still retains the crysanthemum which hints that this weapon was captured in the field.  Under that are the characters meaning Type 38.  The action and barrel plus other furniture retain a good percentage of blue with a gradual thining at the muzzle and magazine floor plate.  Otherwise the bolt is in the white with the elaborately decorated bolt head and handle turning dark grey with use.  The steel butt-plate also displays the same dark grey patina.

The heavily varnished full length two piece lower stock and barrel handguard are all in good condition with no splits or shakes and few dents.  The rifle retains its correct sling swivles.  The full length cleaning rod is still in position.

This type 38 rifle has the full ladder rear sights graduated upto 2200 and when folded down, the appature battle sight. The action is the usual positive mauser action with 5 shot internal magazine.  This is really a nice untouched example of a type 38 with a good bore that is ready for faithfull service to its next keeper as soon as it is called upon to do so.

Note: Until new photos are complete, rifle now as correct dust cover.
